DESCRIPTION
Under direction, assists in surgical recovery of tissues for transplantation, research and medical education. Works in conjunction and under the supervision of the On-call Tissue Coordinator. Duties include preoperative prepping of donors, establishing and maintaining sterile fields, recovery and packaging of tissues, correctly documenting recovery in Lifesharing's electronic medical records system, terminal cleaning of instruments and work area at the completion of surgery. Shares on-call responsibilities for weekends and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science; or two (2) years of college courses in the natural sciences plus two (2) years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Healthcare related field.
- Sterile field experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Ability to work with cadavers.
- Previous experience in the Tissue or Organ recovery industry.
- Completion of a ER Technologist or Surgical Technologist program.
- Completion of an EMT program.
- CEBT and/or CTBS certifications.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able and willing to work with cadavers.
- Must have a valid CA driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work variable shifts, variable work locations, holidays, weekends, and overtime when required.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $72,349 - $72,349 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $34.65 - $34.65
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
