DEPARTMNET OVERVIEW
Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, a dynamic and innovative campus department dedicated to delivering exceptional service to the university community. POSIION OVERVIEW
Under supervision of the Housing Manager, the Lead Custodian provides guidance and direction to Senior Custodians, assures work is completed by staff, performs duties of a Senior Custodian in an assigned area, assists in such duties as training new employees, conducting inspections and inventories, and ordering supplies. Responsible for safeguarding assigned area’s keys and care of custodial supplies and equipment. Will provide customer service to student residents and guests as needed. Work location is student residence. Positive interaction with residents/guests is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in the operation of custodial equipment, including but not limited to vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, carpet steam extractors
Experience in the safe use of cleaning solutions and equipment
Knowledge of general and specialized custodian duties and procedures
Ability to transfer information and figures into report format for supervisor
Ability to determine when repairs are necessary and inform supervisor
Ability to communicate with the general public, students and staff.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Skill in prioritizing workload to meet daily schedule
Ability to work in an environment with changing priorities
Ability to safeguard keys issued to you for assigned areas
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Background check required
Will be required to work alternate work hours and shifts
Required to hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
Maybe required to work overtime by supervisor with little or no advanced notice
Must be physically able to perform physical labor for extended periods
Required to wear pager or radio phone during work hours.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $44,746 - $58,986 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $21.43 - $28.25
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
